Agustin Ramirez Jr

My name is Agustin Ramirez Jr. I am a Whitman student double majoring in Film & Art. I am a first-generation student to attend college. I am originally from Los Angeles, California. As an adolescent growing up I was too exposed to lots of things whether that be good or bad. Family members always encouraged me to go beyond LA to pursue education. I followed what they said and came to Walla Walla for college and because of Whitman I went Beyond that. I went to the Czech Republic to study abroad. I wanted to share these photos with my family.

These photographs are pictures taken in Budapest, Hungary. Para Tus Ojos translates to  “for your eyes”. As a Mexican American, my family sacrificed many things for me. Recently I lost my father to cancer. Another huge role were my grandparents raising me and teaching me Spanish and my culture. Now due to the health of my grandparents they are not not able to visit and explore the world and my father is no longer with us. These family members were not able to share the luxury of exploring the world and seeing what I see. I am very lucky to have this experience. The collection of images are for my father and my grandparents, the people who raised me. I give thanks to them.
