Ann Hooper

My art came as an unexpected gift, providing me with the opportunity to create and transform even when life is going a bit haywire.

Through my sculpture, I try to bring the outside in.  The rich colors of the Walla Walla Valley are represented in many of my pieces.  The earthiness of them is reminiscent of my childhood in Montana and reminds me of the beautiful views I experience every day in Walla Walla. I primarily use nature and circular shapes as common denominators to transform each piece into a unique interpretation of my passion for simplicity and open space.

What do I want to say with my art?  Celebrate strength, balance life’s gifts and challenges, and always remember to laugh.  And don’t forget to take some chances…like life, clay can be unpredictable, frustrating or exhilarating.  Either way, it’s part of my journey and makes me happy.

Stay tuned - new work on the way!
