Cindy Gillett

Cindy is a fine artist living in Idaho who paints primarily with soft pastels. She finds pleasure in focusing on "the little things". The nuances of individual objects, people, animals, or intimate scenes, relishing the specific qualities and details that make a person, place or thing uniquely its own. Cindy’s artistic style is representational realism. It's the details that draw her in and allow her to “get lost” in the moment of painting, unaware of the passing of time. Cindy had the opportunity to view a few pastel paintings by Edgar Degas close up and was amazed not only by his skill as an artist but at the quality of the pastel pigments. Further solidifying her love for the medium. Unlike other mediums that may yellow or crack in time, his works looked fresh, as though they could have been painted yesterday. While Cindy also paints with oils and gouache, her passion remains strong and steadfast for her beloved soft pastels. Cindy is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA) and the Pastel Society of the West Coast (PSWC). She is also a member of the Red Rock Pastel Society of Nevada and the Plein Air Painters of Idaho (PAPI).
