Jennifer Moore
I have spent the last 23 years teaching Visual Art to middle school students. The thing I love the most is watching their faces and eyes when they fall in love with a piece of art and watching the way they feel when they make something they are proud of. Now that I am retiring, I want to have that same feeling when I create my own art. This next chapter in my life allows me to focus on the act of creating through painting.
Over time, I find myself drawn into the moments created by artists- the moments that make you pause and feel. My work tries to capture the moments we forget - the quick glimpse of color or beauty that gets left behind in our busy lives.
I hope that my viewers will feel or remember a moment through my paintings. I paint in oils using a wet on wet or alla prima technique. I strive for color harmony. I am inspired by the American Impressionists of the early 20th century. Whatever their location, they strove to give their viewers that moment to pause and feel. I hope to live up to their legacy and allow my viewers to pause and feel.
