Katherine Wildermuth

I live, paint and work the land in Walla Walla. After teaching art to seventh- and eighth-graders for a very long time, I began to paint using watercolor as principal medium. Teaching young people, however, required some proficiency in many different media and styles as well as management skills. As a result I feel I can “make” just about anything. I love pattern and intense color; I love nature and the shapes and forms it provides, from plants and fruit to insects and birds.

I begin a painting with an incomplete drawing, then paint, then draw a little more, so that the idea is always changing. That technique keeps me interested and on my toes.
