PASTORAL

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2 - NOVEMBER 2, 2025
ARTIST RECEPTION FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3, 4 - 6 PM

Combine Art Collective is thrilled to showcase the exceptional talents of three of our member artists this October: painter Kathleen Casteel, ceramic artist Shelia Coe, and painter and jewelry artist Rachelle Moore.

Their collaborative exhibit, inspired by pastoral themes, beautifully captures the essence of rural life. Each piece reflects the simplicity, serenity, and timeless charm of the countryside, celebrating the land and farms that define it.

Kathleen Casteel
Drawing inspiration from the local landscape and the tradition of pastoral painting—from Bruegel to Fairfield Porter—my work explores the relationship between humans, nature, and animals. Through my art, I aim to encourage others to protect the natural world, which provides us with solace, food, fresh water, and livelihoods.

Shelia Coe
I specialize in ceramic sculpture and hand-building. I enjoy the tactile process of working with clay, particularly the challenge of creating an object—usually an animal—that turns out just as I envision, or sometimes in unexpected ways. It's like carving or uncovering a form that was already present within the material. My joy comes from a deep love of nature, both animals and plants, which I seek to express in my work. I aim to capture their essence in a gentle and often humorous way, evoking the peacefulness of the countryside.

Rachelle Moore
I began this creative journey driven by concern for the world and the things I cannot change. In response, I created a small series of works designed to convey hope, peace, and abundance. My artistic practice includes oil painting, encaustic, and mixed media, and I am also developing a collection of bronze jewelry inspired by wheat motifs.
